Fast Foot is every responsible parent’s worst nightmare of who their children grow up to be. Just like a malignant cancer, this Russian crew is spreading some seriously dirty electro house around the globe. Although they aren’t very well known in the west, this fact is beginning to change. Not only have they constructed an impressive discography but they also have a free podcast that just feeds you their new disgusting tracks in 320kbps!

So let’s examine the kind of filth that Fast Foot has been so generous to share with us all pro-bono. Starting us off, 8Bit World is a wicked track that jogs your memories of playing on the Nintendo Gameboy. Without a doubt, the most brilliant portion of this track is its climax that is such an epic video gaming nostalgia mindbender. Next up we have the global hit Donate. Although funky, this track is still a dirty banger as I’ve definitely lost my composure to it in a quite a few clubs here Los Angeles (I regret nothing). Lastly, we got their remix of Caudill and Turnipseed’s Detroit Is Dead. This magnificent track makes use some very retro psychedelic sounds and it doesn’t just throw you the same drop twice in a row. I have to say the highlight of this track is definitely the wobbly basslines that rub themselves into your face.

Pay attention to these two relentless Russian hooligans on the rise. They have quite a career ahead of them and I’ll certainly be looking forward to their new releases that just keep getting better and better.

This is especially true for dance music standards, where a slew of unknown names seem to appear out of nowhere every year. But Phynn, who in real life is known as Finne Jager, has remained as one the trance world’s elite producers for the last six years. His productions are as new and refreshing as pretty much everyone I know. Back in 2004, his work was receiving heavy support from Tiesto, who featured Phynn on his former label, Black Hole Recordings, and on prominent compilations like In Trance We Trust. His tracks today are receiving heavy support by other trance stars including Armin Van Buuren, who always plays Phynn’s newest releases on his weekly radio show, A State Of Trance. He has also earned quite a lot of success as a DJ, being one of a select few to mix at Trance Energy two years in row (2007 & 2008)

Phynn’s tracks are highly dynamic with kinetic beats, electro-buzzing synths, and powerfully evocative stadium melodies. Recently featured on Sander Van Doorn’s From Dusk Till Doorn compilation, Phynn’s remix of Opera of Northern Ocean by Rex Mundi is one of my favorite recent trance tracks, incorporating his classic melodic style with a hard tech beat. His drastic re-imagining of Statica’s Deadly Nightshade showcased on Markus Shulz’s studio mix Las Vegas ’10, has an epic electro-synth arpeggio that makes me shudder every time I listen to it. Finally, I’ve included one of his original tracks, Supernova, another powerful stadium anthem that has Phynn’s production style written all over it.

The songs on the album string together in an almost storyline fashion, but Archipelago stands out as the quintessential track of the release.

Minimal beats are key in this song, as it sets up a terrific melodic and relaxing atmosphere. My recommendation is to let your guard down… really sink into this one and let it take you to your happy places. Time has no apparent relevancy when listening to this track; it’s as if tranquility is all you can feel… all there is. Without a doubt this could be the title song on a soundtrack through an interstellar space trip. Sit back, relax, and get ready to wander the atmospheric bliss that is Vertex’s Archipelago.

Over the past few years, the name Fedde Le Grand has become synonymous with quality house music. His career took off with the release of the 2006 single Puts Your Hands Up For Detroit and the Dutch producer hasn’t looked back since. In 2009 all of his hard work payed off when he was voted DJMag’s 29th best DJ in the world alongside the release of his first full length album, Output. His beats thrive on innovation and fresh sounds but what allows Fedde to excel in such a saturated modern EDM scene is his constant ability to still encapsulate familiarity in all of his tunes.

First is a track that was highlighted on his recent artist album. Rockin’ High exemplifies Fedde’s astounding ability to give you your favorite song that you’ve never heard. This robo-fied rave-inducing track is energetic from start to finish. The computer driven lyricist throughout may be a bit of a house music cliche, but Fedde absolutely makes it work. Very recently the remix EP for this track hit the streets, and while the Benny Benassi and Nicky Romero remixes carry their own certain punch, the original of this song tends to rock me just a little bit higher.

Additionally I’m posting Fedde’s own remix of Back & Forth. The original version of this track also appeared on Output, and served as a techy underground house-anthem. The remix though, is titled Fedde’s Future Funk Remix, which winds up being surprisingly accurate. I love how the Dutch producer was able to take the most basic tool in a house song, the kick drum, and completely redesign it from the ground up. The result is one of the funkiest beats I’ve heard in 2010. In recent years Fedde has proved that he is one of the few producers that not only manages to think outside of the box with his tracks, but still values and prioritizes crisp and quality productions.
